Man participating in Martinsville Day of Caring

Martinsville’s Day of Caring

In September, Boxley employees joined 134 other United Way volunteers from Martinsville and the surrounding area in United Way’s Day of Caring. Our participants repaired and built walkways around Camp Lee Ford in Ridgeway, Virginia. The walkways will provide visitors with a peaceful, gentle journey to the cabins and picnic area. All while maintaining the beauty and integrity of the surrounding natural landscape.

Boxley is a significant supporter of United Way. Since 2000, Boxley employees, with matching funds from the company, have donated nearly $1.7 million to United Way. This year, Team 360 chose to supplement the company’s financial support with volunteer support; encouraging employees to participate with United Way’s Day of Caring in each of the communities Boxley serves. So far this year, 38 employees have volunteered 200 hours in 8 communities.

The Martinsville volunteer project was one of several United Way’s Day of Caring that Boxley employees supported through the company’s Boxley 360 Corporate Responsibility program.

Stay tuned for news on more great projects the United Way is undertaking throughout central and southwest Virginia.
