The City of Lynchburg, Virginia is undertaking a major roadway expansion that will transform Lakeside Drive for drivers and pedestrians. Boxley, the aggregate materials supplier for this project, is proud to play a role in the enhancements to the surrounding community, including improved access to nearby Lynchburg University. The upgrade became mandatory after a flood in previous years left Lakeside Drive closed for weeks.

The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) honored Boxley Aggregate with the Excellence in Community Relations Bronze Award. Efforts put forth by the teams across seven quarries throughout central and western Virginia provided the foundation for this national recognition.

A new Detention Center is coming to Henry County and Boxley’s Martinsville Ready-Mix plant and Fieldale Quarry are honored to be part of the construction materials supplier team for this critical project.

This National Truck Drivers Week, all of us at Boxley want to give a big shout out and deep appreciation to our Boxley truck drivers for traveling 2,829,668 miles and achieving ZERO lost time incidents in 2019. Boxley truck drivers are an essential pillar of our business to ensure our quality products make it safely to customers. Our drivers show up every day and deliver on Boxley’s high standard of excellence.

On July 30th, Boxley employees stepped away from their day jobs to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Geared with safety equipment, including masks, the team joined a handful of other volunteers to continue construction on the Roanoke, Virginia home.

Boxley is partnering with VDOT and VTTI on a game-changing research project to lengthen the lifespan of asphalt. Current asphalt needs to meet predetermined specs for voids, pockets in the asphalt, and only last for 12-15 years. By 2023, VDOT expects to have the new Balance Mix Design (BMD), done and ready to roll. The new mix will allow for the range of specs to widen, so long it is consistent for the project. It will also lengthen the life of roadways and save taxpayer money.

The current economic situation driven by the COVID-19 pandemic is severely impacting spending. In the coming months, municipalities will see significant reductions to tax inflow. The impact of reduced income could hinder fiscal ability to maintain/improve critical assets including your city streets and highways. Because road repair and maintenance cannot be put on hold, we offer the following option:
